That the Parliament congratulates Maleeha Khaliq, a sports coach from Glasgow, on winning the Young Coach of the Year (under 27) award at the 2024 sportscotland Coaching, Officiating and Volunteering (COV) Awards; understands that the sportscotland COV Awards celebrate those who facilitate sport in communities across Scotland, and who commit their own time to help make sport as accessible as possible; recognises that Maleeha has been dedicated to empowering young girls from diverse backgrounds to participate in netball and other sports at Glasgow ANSAR (All Nations Sports Arts Recreation); praises Maleeha’s work to create an environment in which young girls feel welcomed, valued and motivated to achieve in sport; understands that Meleeha not only coaches but also engages with the girls' families and communities, organising community events and workshops to promote the importance of sports for physical and mental wellbeing; notes that the COV winners collected their awards at a presentation ceremony held at Glasgow City Chambers on 7 November; commends Maleeha for all of her hard work and dedication, and wishes her all the best for the future as she continues to help break down barriers so that young girls can participate in sport.
