  • Submitted by: Christine Grahame, Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 19 November 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15533

That the Parliament congratulates those named in the list of 2024's Top 100 Women In Tourism (WIT), including winners from the Borders such as Sandy Maxwell-Forbes, director at the Great Tapestry of Scotland Visitor Centre, Fiona Drane, an independent marketing and tourism consultant and a director at Scottish Community Tourism (SCOTO), Sarah Macdonald, development agent at the South of Scotland Destination Alliance, and Kirsty Innes, an independent PR and tourism consultant; understands that the list was launched in 2018 by WIT to recognise the challenges and opportunities for women within the sector, with winners selected by industry leaders from a peer-nominated group of 250 women; considers that having such talent in the Borders can only assist in promoting its tourism potential, and congratulates all of the winners.
