  • Submitted by: Sue Webber, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 19 November 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15527

That the Parliament congratulates Steven MacLennan, from Baberton, on being awarded The Forth Local Hero Award 2024 at The Forth Awards 2024; understands that Steven was the first person on site at a tragic gas explosion fire at a neighbour's home in Baberton, in December 2023; further understands that Steven, alongside some of his neighbours, led the team by entering the rubble of the exploded house to rescue two of his neighbours who were trapped in the burning building; commends Steven, who has served in the Army Reserves for 20 years with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, for his bravery and courage, and recognises that the neighbours and wider community appreciate Steven’s brave actions and that without his intervention the outcome could have been very different.
