That the Parliament recognises that the Royal College of Nursing is celebrating Nursing Support Workers’ Day on 23 November 2024; welcomes the opportunity to shine a spotlight on the nursing support workforce across Scotland and the essential care that they deliver every day; considers that nursing support workers make a vital contribution within wards, clinics and community teams across Scotland’s health and care services; understands that the term "nursing support worker" encompasses hundreds of different job titles and roles, including healthcare support workers, carers and senior carers, care assistants and clinical support workers, and that they work independently, alongside registered nurses and as part of wider multidisciplinary teams, in all health and social care settings; believes that, while nursing support workers have a critical role to play in delivering high-quality care and excellent outcomes for patients, their vital contribution can often go unrecognised, and hopes that MSPs, health and care providers and the public are able to demonstrate their appreciation for nursing support workers on 23 November.
