12-hour Football Tournament for Rwanda

  • Submitted by: Clare Adamson, Motherwell and Wishaw, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 04 November 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15203

That the Parliament congratulates Adam Herbert, from Motherwell, along with Luke Anderson and Max Watson on their outstanding achievement in raising £1,800 through a 12-hour football game; understands that these funds will support a group of volunteers from Sandyhills Parish, alongside parishioners from various other churches, including Kings Church Motherwell, who are set to visit Rwanda for 14 days in summer 2025 to build a Transformation Centre for street children, construct new schools and assist the local community; recognises that Comfort International is a Scottish charity working with genocide survivors and street children in Rwanda, which provides support to the genocide survivor communities; understands that, while Rwanda has made excellent progress since 1994, many children and survivors still face life-limiting challenges; commends the efforts of Luke, Max and Adam, and wishes Sandyhills Parish Church and Comfort International well in their important work and visit to Rwanda.
