The National Heritage Fund Grant of Cranhill Arts Project

  • Submitted by: Annie Wells, Glasgow, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 30 October 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15112

That the Parliament welcomes support from the National Heritage Fund grant awarded to the Cranhill Arts Project; understands that this initiative will train 65 residents of Glasgow's east end in photographic archive skills, focusing on preserving a valuable period of Glaswegian history from 1989 to 1993; believes that by selecting, categorising and digitalising hundreds of previously unpublished negatives, this project will enrich community heritage and ensure that these important local stories are accessible for future generations, and commends the decision to award £52,733 to Cranhill Art Project for what it sees as this vital work.
