  • Submitted by: Jackie Dunbar, Aberdeen Donside, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 30 October 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15099

That the Parliament congratulates Anastasios Giamouriadis, consultant neurosurgeon at NHS Grampian, who has carried out world-first surgery to remove a large brain tumour through a patient’s eyebrows; understands that this ground-breaking procedure will allow for surgeons to remove brain tumours the size of large apples through a patient’s eyebrows; notes that Mr Giamouriadis has adapted an existing technique to remove the growths, leaving patients with only a small scar and black eye, with many individuals being able to leave hospital just 24 hours later and return to work within days of the procedure; commends the efforts of Mr Giamouriadis and the team involved in carrying out the procedure, and wishes them all the best.
