  • Date lodged: Thursday, 24 October 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-15010

That the Parliament congratulates the Moray West Offshore Wind Farm on winning the award for non-operational project of the year at the Renewable UK's Global Offshore Wind Awards 2024, which was held recently at the Lancaster Hotel, London; notes that this is another prestigious win to add to those already secured by the company in the field of renewables and offshore wind energy; understands that the Moray West Offshore Wind Farm is located 22 kilometres off the Moray Coast between Helmsdale and Buckie and that the farm will supply up to 50% of Scotland's electricity, which is enough to power 1.33 million homes, and notes that the farm is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 1.1 million tonnes.
