  • Submitted by: Sharon Dowey, South Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 22 October 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-14981

That the Parliament notes with great sadness the death of former South Ayrshire Councillor, Ian Fitzsimmons, who passed away peacefully at his home in Girvan earlier in October 2024; understands that Ian was a Councillor from 1999-2012 and from 2017-22, representing his beloved Girvan diligently and effectively for 18 years; notes that tributes were paid to Ian by his colleagues at South Ayrshire Council and by people across the Girvan and South Carrick Ward for his many years of dutiful service to the town and surrounding villages; recognises what it sees as Ian's legacy as a stalwart of the local area and a gentleman of South Ayrshire politics, and extends its heartfelt condolences to Ian's family and friends.
