Roy MacGregor OBE Wins Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Regional Economy

That the Parliament congratulates Roy MacGregor OBE on winning the Prosper Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Regional Economy at Prosper’s annual Highlands and Islands Business Excellence Awards 2024; notes that Prosper’s Highlands and Islands Regional Committee has been supporting a strong and vibrant economy for the region for 69 years, and celebrates all the finalists and businesses for what it considers as their positive impact and contribution to communities and the economy of the Highlands and Islands; understands that Roy has made significant contributions to the regional economy through Global Energy Group, which has created employment as the largest private employer in the region, and the development of the Port of Nigg into a modern energy hub, acting as a key base for major renewable energy initiatives including further opportunities for training through the Nigg Skills Academy; further understands that Roy brought the first football academy to Scotland and that, during his time as Chairman of Ross County, the club has thrived as the UK’s most northerly professional football club, winning competitions such as the Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Championship among others, and recognises Roy's outstanding and significant contributions to the Highland regional economy.
