Dwarfism Awareness Day

That the Parliament recognises 25 October as Dwarfism Awareness Day; acknowledges the importance of recognising dwarfism and the challenges faced by individuals with this condition; commends the efforts of organisations, such as Little People UK and Short Stature Scotland, for their advocacy and support for people with dwarfism; notes that dwarfism can be a medical or genetic condition that results in an adult height of 4 feet 10 inches or shorter; understands that there are over 200 distinct forms of dwarfism and skeletal dysplasia; highlights what it sees as the need for greater public understanding and acceptance of people with dwarfism; appreciates the valuable contributions of local organisations and events in Scotland, including those in Ayrshire, which promote inclusivity and awareness, and notes the calls on the Scottish Government to support initiatives that promote inclusivity and accessibility for individuals with dwarfism in all aspects of society.
