That the Parliament notes with concern reports of the latest KPMG/REC survey highlighting that businesses are freezing recruitment plans ahead of the Budget from the UK Government on 30 October 2024; understands that feedback from the survey indicates that this is due to uncertainty over government plans on tax, industrial strategy and employment policies; further understands that recruitment agencies responding to the survey believed that fewer people were being placed in permanent positions because unclear government policy is making clients cautious; considers that these figures demonstrate low confidence in the UK economy, and calls on the Chancellor of the Exchequer to engage properly with businesses to regain what it sees as much-needed stability.
