That the Parliament congratulates Joan Leask, from Shetland, on 50 years of volunteering with the 1st Lerwick Brownie Guides; understands that Joan, one of only a few Guides in the country to reach this milestone, was presented with her 50 Year Long Service Award by the Girlguiding Scotland Chief Commissioner, Elaine Rough, and the Aberdeen and Shetland County Commissioner, Alison Smith, at a surprise party celebration in Lerwick on 28 September 2024; further understands that Joan got her start in volunteering with the Guides by helping out her mother, who also used to be a volunteer, and volunteers alongside her sister, Anne, who has been volunteering for 48 years; commends both sisters for their dedication to the Brownie Guides over the decades, which, it considers, has positively impacted many girls’ lives; celebrates Joan’s milestone achievement, and wishes her well in her future volunteering efforts.
