Birse Community Trust Wins Inspiring Aberdeenshire 2024 Cultural Award

That the Parliament congratulates Birse Community Trust on winning the Inspiring Aberdeenshire 2024 Cultural Award; recognises what it sees as the significance of the Inspiring Aberdeenshire awards, as one of Aberdeenshire Council’s most prominent events, which has been running for over a decade; believes that Birse Community Trust plays a vital role as a champion of local history and heritage, including its work on restoring and preserving historical sites such as the Bucket Mill, Finzean Old School, Souters Shop and Birse Kirk; acknowledges the trust’s efforts in making these unique and lesser-known sites accessible to the community, offering valuable insights into the past; notes its establishment of the Birse Parish Archive at Finzean Old School, which preserves old photographs, documents, post cards and other records of local history; commends the trust for managing 1,000 hectares of woodland on behalf of the community; believes that this ensures the safeguarding of cultural traditions and local heritage for future generations, and wishes the trust continued success in its invaluable work.
