That the Parliament welcomes National Eye Health Week, a UK-wide campaign, which focuses on encouraging everyone to take care of their eyes and maintain good eye health; acknowledges that the event, which takes place from 23 to 29 September 2024, is seven days dedicated to promoting the importance of good eye health and the need for regular eye examinations for all; understands that the event highlights the importance of regular eye tests, which, it believes, are essential not only for checking vision but also for detecting underlying health conditions like diabetes and glaucoma; further understands that throughout that week, healthcare professionals and organizations collaborate to provide information, resources, and free or discounted eye tests, aiming to reduce preventable sight loss and promote overall eye health, and asserts the importance of booking regular eye tests and examinations, which, it believes, are crucial for maintaining good vision and detecting early signs of eye conditions.
