  • Submitted by: Martin Whitfield, South Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 12 September 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-14467

That the Parliament notes that 23 September 2024 marks exactly 100 years since learning began at Preston Lodge High School in Prestonpans; understands that the original school building opened in 1924 before being burnt down in 1967, and that the new Preston Lodge opened in November 1969; further understands that this hugely important milestone of 100 years as a school community will be celebrated over the next few weeks with various events and activities, including a special event on 26 September, which will involve the showing of a new short film that captures the people, places and passions of Preston Lodge, past and present; congratulates the school’s leadership team, staff, parent council, parents and carers, and pupils, as well as the whole school community and its feeder primary schools on reaching this centenary at the heart of Prestonpans, and wishes everyone involved every success with their celebrations and the future of the school.
