  • Submitted by: Jeremy Balfour, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 12 September 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-14448

That the Parliament recognises Baby Loss Awareness Week 2024, which takes place from 9 to 15 October 2024; understands that this year’s theme is "Together, we care", which focuses on finding time to care for yourself and each other, as part of a community of people affected by all forms of pregnancy and baby loss; acknowledges the profound grief and emotional toll experienced by parents, families, and loved ones who have experienced the loss of a baby during pregnancy, at birth, or in infancy; commends what it considers to be the vital work carried out by organisations across Scotland, including Held in Our Hearts, which provide support, advocacy and counselling services to those affected; highlights what it sees as the importance of creating safe spaces for families to share their experiences and find solace in their grief; recognises the significance of lighting up landmarks across the country in pink and blue to honour the lives lost, and to promote awareness of baby loss; commits to improving bereavement care, raising awareness, and supporting research into the causes of baby loss, and calls on the Scottish Government to continue working with health professionals, charities and affected families to ensure comprehensive and compassionate support for all who are impacted.
