That the Parliament welcomes the news that the UK Government is awarding £30 million of funding to life sciences research at the University of Dundee; understands that this money will be awarded to the MRC Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit within the university; congratulates the unit for what it sees as the valuable work already done, including on breakthroughs in the treatment of skin cancer; recognises the University of Dundee’s reputation as what it sees as the UK’s leading life sciences university and the immense contributions that have already been made in that field of research, and considers that this investment by the UK Government will contribute to economic growth in the city of Dundee, as the University of Dundee currently supports an estimated one in 12 jobs in the city.
