  • Date lodged: Monday, 09 September 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-14392

That the Parliament recognises Peebles and District Citizens Advice Bureau’s (CAB) “Stressed About Debt” campaign; understands that this is a local campaign aiming to re-assure people that debt is nothing to be ashamed of, and that free, expert help is available to them from the CAB if they reach out for it; recognises what it sees as the problems that debt causes individuals and families and the importance of getting help early to find solutions; understands that Peebles and District CAB helps solve peoples’ debt problems every day by helping find clients new income streams, negotiate with creditors to re-structure debt into affordable repayments, or even get some debt written off; pays credit to Peebles and District CAB’s advisers who work hard to achieve real results for their clients, and encourages anyone struggling with debt to reach out to their local CAB for support and advice.
