That the Parliament congratulates Julie Kennedy, from Wishaw, on the publication of her novel Ma Mum & William Wordsworth; understands that the novel explores the poignant journey of 15-year-old Erin, growing up in Lanarkshire during the late 1970s; further understands that Julie is a celebrated local writer and poet whose work has been featured in prestigious poetry magazines such as New Writing Scotland, Causeway/Cabhsair and Southword, as well as in publications by the Poetry Society; notes that the novel was published with the support of a Scots Language Publication Grant from the Scottish Government, which is administered by the Scottish Book Trust; acknowledges what it sees as the importance of the Scots Language Publication Grant, which was created by the Scots Language Resource Network to support Scottish and UK publishers to publish and promote work written in Scots; notes that the grant is designed to cover publishing costs such as editing, advances, illustrations and cover design, typesetting, printing and marketing; thanks the Scottish Book Trust and Scots Language Resource Network for their commitment to retaining the Scots Language, and wishes Julie all the best with her future writing.
