That the Parliament recognises that the Glasgow Cathedral Festival will take place from 19 to 23 September 2024; celebrates that the festival of live music, film, art and multi-media collaborations brings new life to Glasgow’s oldest building; considers that the medieval cathedral provides a truly unique and dramatic setting for the festival’s world-class performances and exhibits; understands that the festival, which started in 2016, is now in its eighth season and has welcomed more than 14,000 visitors from across the globe since it started; notes that the festival also includes an education programme of performance and music for local school children; recognises that the festival is run by the Society of Friends of Glasgow Cathedral, a charity that aims to care for and preserve the cathedral for the future, and wishes the Society, and all involved, the best for the continued success of the festival and in their work to preserve Glasgow’s beautiful and historic cathedral.
