That the Parliament commends Stephen McGuire on winning the Gold medal at the Paris Paralympics in the men’s BC4 individual boccia event; recognises Stephen’s significant contribution to boccia and disability sport and believes that this well-deserved win for Team GB is testament to 20 years of hard work, commitment and perseverance; understands that Stephen was a late addition to the Team GB line-up after recovering from a broken leg and knee sustained in 2022, which left him bedbound for a significant period; believes that Stephen’s Gold medal is a cause for celebration in his hometown of Hamilton, Scotland and Great Britain, and that it will inspire athletes and fans around the world; values boccia as a sport unique to the Paralympics, played by athletes with a disability affecting locomotor function, and as a game of control, accuracy and tactics for which, it understands, Stephen is affectionately known as "Mr Strategy" in recognition of his ability to outthink rivals, and congratulates Stephen McGuire and the entire British Paralympics team on their achievements at the Paris 2024 Paralympics.
