The Marie Curie "Make Sadmin Simple" Campaign

  • Submitted by: Alex Cole-Hamilton, Edinburgh Western, Scottish Liberal Democrats.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 22 August 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-14153

That the Parliament welcomes the Marie Curie "Make Sadmin Simple" campaign; notes that "sadmin" is defined as administrative tasks related to death, dying and bereavement, which can feel upsetting to manage; considers that people experiencing bereavement are a particularly vulnerable group; understands that over 680,000 people across the UK go through "sadmin" every year; acknowledges that the Marie Curie campaign is directed towards banks, telephone companies and energy providers; understands that the campaign calls for these companies to take practical steps, such as employing compassionate and well-trained bereavement teams and allowing for death certificates to be submitted online; considers that these asks are reasonable, and encourages people across Scotland to support the campaign.
