Alloa Fire Station Open Day

  • Submitted by: Alexander Stewart, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 15 August 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-14119

That the Parliament is enthused that a Clackmannanshire fire station will open its doors to give the public an insight into how it all operates; understands that Alloa Fire Station will be hosting its annual open day on 17 August 2024; believes that the event will run from 1.00 pm until 4.00 pm on the day, with the team in place all day to welcome visitors; notes that the fire station will also be holding a recruitment drive for on-call firefighters, in response to what it sees as a regrettable shortage in the Stirling and Clackmannanshire area, with Alloa Fire Station hoping to bolster its numbers of on-call responders; further notes that this family day will also enable the opportunity for younger people to be able to sit in an appliance and experience what it may be like as a firefighter; believes that, in addition to its fleet of appliances there, the fire team is also planning to have special appliances there on the day, as well as representative vehicles from Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Service, and Ochils Mountain Rescue; commends everyone involved for planning to highlight the invaluable work of the emergency services, and for their excellent community endeavours, and wishes everyone all the very best for a highly successful and enjoyable day.
