That the Parliament marks the 130th year of the Cowal Highland Gathering; acknowledges that the event is one of Scotland’s most renowned Highland Games and that it boasts a rich history; understands that the first Cowal Gathering was held in 1894 and was attended by around 2,000 people, and that it now attracts around 23,000 spectators and includes competitions in piping, highland dancing and heavy athletics, along with musical entertainment; recognises the hard work that goes into making the event a success each year, and the number of dedicated people involved who ensure that the event runs smoothly, and wishes all those involved with the gathering the best in putting on another fantastic event this year, and in all future years.
