  • Submitted by: Annabelle Ewing, Cowdenbeath, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 10 July 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13866

That the Parliament notes the success of the 2024 Benarty Gala, which was held on 23 June 2024; recognises that the theme for the 2024 gala was mining heritage, in recognition of the 40th anniversary of the miners' strike; acknowledges that the family day out provided lots to see and do, with various stalls and performances; understands that this is an annual event in the calendars of families from Benarty and beyond, with much excitement leading up to the event on the day, including the Highland Dancing and Pipe Band Competition the previous day; further understands that the Benarty Events Group organises a range of events leading up to gala day, including a quiz night and putting competition; believes that events like these are only possible due to the local fundraising efforts of individuals, groups and businesses; thanks all volunteers from the Benarty Events Group for the hard work and effort that has gone into organising the gala over the year; believes that events like this would not be possible without volunteers, and thanks them for this; wishes the team all the very best with its preparations for 2025, and encourages local people to volunteer their time for next year.
