  • Submitted by: Maggie Chapman, North East Scotland, Scottish Green Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 18 June 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13699

That the Parliament recognises and celebrates the silver anniversary of Buchan Dial-A-Community Bus (BDACB); notes that BDACB is an award-winning transport charity, based in Maud in the north east, that is focused on reducing isolation and building community connections in Aberdeenshire through the provision of high-quality transport and supported services; recognises that the charity has been providing what it sees as this life-affirming and supporting service for 25 years, having started with just one service and one bus, which has grown to a fleet of eight buses and numerous services, and understands that it is awaiting delivery of its ninth vehicle; believes that providing affordable, accessible transport throughout the Buchan area for some of society’s most vulnerable individuals is potentially life-transforming and life-saving; notes that BDACB is committed to social and environmental sustainability in all of its operations, having embedded Fair Work First in its work and supporting the shift to zero-carbon transport with the use of an increasing number of electric vehicles; commends and congratulates BDACB for all its work over the last 25 years, and wishes all involved all the very best for the future.
