Belmont Cinema: Fall in Love with the Cinema Again

That the Parliament congratulates Belmont Community Cinema Ltd, which has been selected by Aberdeen City Council as the preferred operator of the Belmont Cinema in Aberdeen; notes the plan to deliver a sustainable and exciting future for what it considers to be an important, accessible cultural and educational venue in the north east; further notes the recent launch of the campaign that seeks to reimagine, refurbish and reopen the Belmont Cinema; recognises that this plan and campaign is built on four key themes, namely film, education, community and customer experience; notes that the aim is to refurbish all areas of the building, reopen three cinema screens, a basement bar and an education and learning suite; further notes that the Belmont’s education and filmmaking programme will be delivered in partnership with Station House Media Unit (shmu); recognises what it sees as the immense work and effort that has got the campaign to this point; highlights the fundraising call to raise at least £2 million for the cinema, and wishes the Belmont Cinema every success in its fundraising campaign and its future as a vibrant and creative cultural and educational venue.
