Awarding Wigtownshire Recognises Local Heroes for the Third Year

That the Parliament congratulates all the winners and nominees who took part in the Awarding Wigtownshire event, organised by Stranraer Community Events Group held at the North West Castle Hotel in Stranraer and attended by 400 people; notes that this is the third year the event has been staged; recognises that the recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to Wigtownshire award was Mandy Green with Special Recognition awards going to Busy Bees, Newton Stewart Initiative and Shannon Reid; acknowledges that the winner of the Young Achiever award was Kathleen McClenaghan; further acknowledges that the Community Group winner was Kirkcolm Hub, Volunteer of the Year was Stranraer RNLI, the Sports and Leisure award was won by Billy Holmes, the Contribution to Tourism award went to Henry’s Bay House, the Unmasked Hero award was presented to Kim Crosbie, the Contribution to Agriculture award was presented to Kitchen Coos & Ewes, the Hair and Beauty award was won by Tres Chic, the Educator of the Year award was won by Jamie Farquhar, the Employee of the Year award went to Claire Mann, Business of the Year was awarded to Steven Cronnie Butcher, while the Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to David McMillan, and wishes the winners and the nominees continued success in the coming months.
