Congratulations to Great Western Community Trust

  • Submitted by: Kevin Stewart, Aberdeen Central, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 11 June 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13595

That the Parliament congratulates Great Western Community Trust on successfully taking ownership of the former Holburn West Church in Aberdeen; understands that the church, which dates back to 1893 and sits on the corner of Great Western Road and Ashley Park Drive, became redundant after 130 years due to reorganisation in the Church of Scotland; further understands that the project, which will see the church turned into a community facility and has been backed by the local community, will enable breakfast and after-school clubs for the local Ashley Road and Broomhill primary schools to continue, as well as other clubs, classes and services already operating from the building; believes that the new facility will benefit the local community greatly, and wishes the Trust every success with its plans for future expansion of services and activities in the new community centre.
