That the Parliament notes that Dementia Awareness Week 2024 takes place between 27 May and 2 June; understands that every annual Dementia Awareness Week focuses on raising awareness of dementia and improving the lives of people living with dementia, their families and carers; considers that each person living with dementia has their own unique story, and that their needs, preferences and aspirations are as diverse as they are; supports efforts to respect and protect the rights of people living with dementia to access care and support that meets their needs and reflects their will and preferences; commends the work of organisations such as Alzheimer Scotland that play an important role in supporting those affected by dementia, and encourages people across Scotland to engage in events being held in their community to mark Dementia Awareness Week as part of a collective effort to raise awareness and highlight the valuable contribution of people with dementia across society.
