Thanking Fiona Donald of Helensburgh

That the Parliament thanks Fiona Donald of Helensburgh for what it sees as her selfless commitment to raising the profile of Parkinson’s in her local area and across Scotland; understands that, in the 11 years since Fiona was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, she has raised many thousands of pounds for Parkinson’s UK through collections, book sales and her own activities; notes the contribution that Fiona has made to furthering research into better treatments and support for people with Parkinson’s as an advocate for, and participant in, vital research; appreciates the support that Fiona has given to many other people with Parkinson’s in her local community as leader of the Parkinson’s UK Helensburgh and Dumbarton Group over the last nine years; acknowledges what it sees as the tremendous impact that Fiona has had by speaking out publicly about the things that need to change to improve lives for people with Parkinson’s in Scotland and further afield; wishes Fiona well as she steps back from leading the Dumbarton and Helensburgh Group, and believes that she will continue to be an active member of the group and to contribute to the community.
