  • Submitted by: Neil Bibby, West Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 07 June 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13143

That the Parliament commends Paisley resident, Craig Ferguson, on his bid to walk 1,000 miles from Glasgow to Munich to raise money for the men’s mental health charity, Brothers in Arms; understands that he departed from Hampden Park on 4 May 2024 and aims to reach Munich by 14 June in time for the opening Scotland vs Germany match of the EURO 2024 tournament; recognises that Craig has already raised nearly £20,000 for this cause; notes that Brothers in Arms offers round-the-clock support to anyone who is struggling to cope or feeling suicidal, to help reduce male suicide rates; welcomes that the charity has branded Craig’s journey as an "incredible mission" that will help break the silence around male mental health; understands that Craig does not have a ticket to any of the Scotland matches, but that he will be celebrating his 21st birthday whilst in Germany enjoying the atmosphere of the tournament, and wishes him every success in his challenge.
