Glasgow Showbiz Legend Dies Suddenly at 80 Years Old

  • Submitted by: Annie Wells, Glasgow, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 15 May 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-13120

That the Parliament remembers Chris McClure, who passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of 29 April 2024, at 80 years old; acknowledges that the father of five had an incredible career spanning over 60 years, which included touring the UK with Billy Connolly in the 1970s, and was a regular performer in a number of pantomimes at the Pavilion Theatre in the city centre; understands that, in 2018, he was still performing in the Glasgow Pavilion’s annual panto, alongside the River City star, Stephen Purdon; further understands that Christian also appeared on the same bill as The Jacksons and Dolly Parton at the Queen's Jubilee show at Glasgow’s King's Theatre in 1978, and sends its condolences to his family at this time.
