Bob and Blether Swims for International Women’s Day

  • Submitted by: Roz McCall, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 03 April 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12716

That the Parliament commends the members of the St Andrews sea-swimming group, Bob and Blether, who organised a charity event for International Women’s Day; understands that the event raised the sum of £6,000 for Dundee Women's Aid, an organisation that supports women and children in their community who have experienced domestic abuse or violence; notes that the swim group has 80 members and was established in 2022; understands that the event, which was held on 8 March 2024, started with a 6.00 am "swimrise" in the waters off Kingsbarn beach in Fife, followed by hot drinks in a local café and optional sessions with Wild Scottish Sauna; notes that, following the physical sessions, the group convened at nearby Cambo House, where they enjoyed a breakfast supplied by local businesses, and congratulates everyone involved on what it sees as a highly magnanimous initiative.
