Remembering the Battle of Falkirk Muir, 1746

  • Submitted by: Stephen Kerr, Central Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 25 January 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-11965

That the Parliament understands that the annual commemoration of the Battle of Falkirk Muir, of 1746, took place on 20 January 2024; further understands that this battle marked roughly the halfway point of the Jacobite rising of 1745, and was won by the Jacobite army under the command of Bonnie Prince Charlie, and believes that it is important that annual events are held across the country to celebrate events that it considers shaped Scotland as a nation.
