Celebrating the Great British Game Week

  • Submitted by: Murdo Fraser, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 09 November 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-11160

That the Parliament recognises the Great British Game Week, which is a week-long campaign that celebrates wild game; understands that the British Association for Shooting and Conservation (BASC)’s Eat Game campaign successfully promotes game as a healthy and sustainable food product through the promotion of dinners, events and special offers to consumers in Perthshire, Scotland, and across the UK; further understands that country sports shooting generates in excess of £200 million for the Scottish economy and produces a variety of different top quality wild game products that are utilised locally in shops, pubs and restaurants across Scotland; believes that there are many benefits to eating game meat, such as it being high in protein, iron, zinc, vitamin E, vitamin B and beta carotene, and that it is also rich in omega-3, and congratulates the campaign on entering its seventh year and reaching 37,000 followers to date.
