Stop Climate Chaos Scotland's Climate Manifesto

  • Submitted by: Mark Ruskell, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Green Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 06 October 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-10782

That the Parliament notes the publication of Climate Manifesto: Policies to deliver action and justice by Stop Climate Chaos Scotland (SCCS), which is a diverse coalition of over 60 civil society organisations campaigning together on climate change in Scotland; understands that this document sets out 119 policy ideas for the UK Government, the Scottish Government and local authorities, and considers that this represents the most comprehensive set of climate change policies ever assembled by civil society in Scotland; notes that SCCS believes that “adopting the policies in this document would put Scotland on track to deliver the real reductions in emissions that the planet needs and to make our fair contribution to helping other countries deal with climate change in their own ways” and that, if adopted, would be a start to doing what the UN Secretary-General has called doing “everything, everywhere, all at once”; welcomes what it sees as this valuable contribution to the debate, and commends these ideas to decision makers at every level for serious consideration as part of addressing the climate emergency with the urgency that it considers is required.
