As an amendment to motion S6M-04580 in the name of Tom Arthur (Community Wealth Building – Delivering Transformation in Scotland’s Local and Regional Economies), insert at end “; believes that the objectives of Community Wealth Building, including the creation of employment and business opportunities, have in recent years been undermined by the current SNP administration’s pattern of centralisation, failed national industrial interventions and failure to establish and protect the core connections that communities rely upon; regrets that local communities across Scotland have not seen promised transformations in local and regional economies; notes that island communities have been left behind by continuing ferry service failures; acknowledges that Lochaber and the surrounding community has not benefitted from the promised 2,000 jobs at the smelter; understands that the collapse of BiFab had a negative impact on Fife’s local economy, and believes that there has been a failure to deliver on the opportunities that have arisen from offshore wind developments.”
