Questions and answers

Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Government what its response is to the finding in Criminal Proceedings in Scotland, 2016-17, which records that the conviction rate for rape and attempted rape was 39%, which represents the lowest conviction rate since 2008-09.

To ask the Scottish Government what its response is to the findings in Criminal Proceedings in Scotland, 2016-17 and Recorded crime in Scotland: 2016-2017, which record that, of the 1,878 reported rapes and attempted rates in 2016-17, 251 were prosecuted and 98 resulted in a conviction.

To ask the Scottish Government what its response is to the finding in Recorded crime in Scotland: 2016-2017, which records that, of the 10,822 sexual crimes that were reported in 2016-17, 44% related to a victim under 18.
