Questions and answers

Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)
  • Other questions such as Topical, Portfolio, General and First Minister's Question Times are taken in the Chamber

To ask the Scottish Government whether it is aware of reports by the Care Quality Commission in England that problems with dispensing drugs during the COVID-19 crisis may be contributing to an apparent increase in deaths of people receiving treatment for opiate addiction, and, if so, what its response is, and whether it is aware of any similar issues arising in Scotland.

To ask the Scottish Government what its response is to the research paper, Rapid Systematic Review: The Impact of Social Isolation and Loneliness on the Mental Health of Children and Adolescents in the Context of COVID-19, which was published in the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, including the paper's finding that children who have experienced long periods of loneliness are three times more likely to suffer from depression in future, in light of its own responsibilities for the mental health of young people.
