To ask the Scottish Executive how it is encouraging more people to register as organ donors.
Answer
The government continues to run high profile, hard hitting media and publicity campaigns to raise awareness of organ donation and to encourage people to sign up to the NHS Organ Donor Register. In addition, we are fully committed to implementing the recommendations of the UK Organ Donation Taskforce. Part of this work involves supporting NHS Board Organ Donation Committees to deliver local awareness-raising initiatives.
Particular attention has also been given to encouraging members of black and minority ethnic communities to sign up to the register.
