To ask the Scottish Government how much was spent on the Electoral Commission voter registration campaign for the independence referendum.
Answer
The financial memorandum which was published alongside the Scottish Independence Referendum Bill estimated that the Electoral Commission would incur expenditure of around £2.2 million for discharging its statutory functions in relation to the referendum. This amount included an estimate of around £1.8 million for undertaking a public awareness campaign. The final amount will be confirmed once all accounts have been settled.
