To ask the Scottish Government how many patients in West Scotland (a) received and (b) were refused NHS continuing healthcare in 2012-13, broken down by local authority.

We do not hold information to the level of detail requested centrally.

An annual census of the number of people receiving NHS continuing healthcare is carried out by Information Services Division on an annual basis. This census provides a snapshot of the number of people eligible for NHS continuing healthcare on the census date, broken down by health board.

To ask the Scottish Government what support it provides for people with Parkinson’s.

We want to ensure that people living with neurological conditions, such as Parkinson’s Disease, including their families, have access to the best possible care and support.

We are currently supporting the National Neurological Advisory Group in raising the profile of all neurological conditions within the NHS, the third sector and with the public. Parkinson’s UK (Scotland) are represented on this group.

The National Neurological Advisory Groups aim is to drive forward the implementation of the neurological standards. The standards aim to improve the patient journey from the point of referral into the service and ensure that every patient with neurological condition experiences a quality of care that gives confidence to the patient, clinician and carer.

To ask the Scottish Government, in light of its impact on tourism in Scotland, (a) what recent discussions and correspondence it has had with and (b) when it will next meet the UK Government regarding the cruise ship industry; whether it has received representations regarding the passport checking procedures on cruise ships, and whether this has being raised in the discussions.

The Scottish Government regard cruise tourism as a key part of the marine tourism sector and have made repeated calls on the UK Government to end the current imposition of face-to-document checks on cruise passengers disembarking at UK ports.

In addition the Scottish Government hosted an ‘End of Season’ symposium for CruiseScotland, the umbrella body for the cruise industry in Scotland, on 14 November 2013. That event raised a number of detailed questions and, following analysis, these were passed onto both the UK Home Office and the UK Border Force in ministerial letters dated 31 January 2014.

Those letters were to be in advance of a scheduled meeting between the Scottish Government, CruiseScotland and the UK Border Force on 05 February 2014. This meeting was cancelled at short notice at the request of the UK Border Force. The Scottish Government are urgently seeking a new date for the meeting to take place.
