To ask the Scottish Executive how many people with oesophageal cancer have (a) had and (b) not had surgery as part of their treatment in each year since 1960.
The specific information requested is not collected centrally. However, numbers and percentages of oesophageal cancer patients in Scotland diagnosed in the period 1981-2007 who have had surgery as part of their treatment are available in the following table:
