Just about every week, I hear from my constituents that we should go back to the East Kilbride Development Corporation, rather than South Lanarkshire Council.

What challenges and opportunities will arise at local authority level from the ending of private finance initiative contracts for schools? Do you want to come in on that, Bill?

The committee has heard about the importance of localism—you have touched on that briefly—and place-based budgets, and there has been discussion on the range of services that could be provided by councils. Will you set out your views on those issues? Having been a councillor, I have worked on participatory budgeting and 20-minute neighbourhoods. I am keen to hear your views on those issues.
