The Official Report is a written record of public meetings of the Parliament and committees.
The Official Report search offers lots of different ways to find the information you’re looking for. The search is used as a professional tool by researchers and third-party organisations. It is also used by members of the public who may have less parliamentary awareness. This means it needs to provide the ability to run complex searches, and the ability to browse reports or perform a simple keyword search.
The web version of the Official Report has three different views:
Depending on the kind of search you want to do, one of these views will be the best option. The default view is to show the report for each meeting of Parliament or a committee. For a simple keyword search, the results will be shown by item of business.
When you choose to search by a particular MSP, the results returned will show each spoken contribution in Parliament or a committee, ordered by date with the most recent contributions first. This will usually return a lot of results, but you can refine your search by keyword, date and/or by meeting (committee or Chamber business).
We’ve chosen to display the entirety of each MSP’s contribution in the search results. This is intended to reduce the number of times that users need to click into an actual report to get the information that they’re looking for, but in some cases it can lead to very short contributions (“Yes.”) or very long ones (Ministerial statements, for example.) We’ll keep this under review and get feedback from users on whether this approach best meets their needs.
There are two types of keyword search:
If you select an MSP’s name from the dropdown menu, and add a phrase in quotation marks to the keyword field, then the search will return only examples of when the MSP said those exact words. You can further refine this search by adding a date range or selecting a particular committee or Meeting of the Parliament.
It’s also possible to run basic Boolean searches. For example:
There are two ways of searching by date.
You can either use the Start date and End date options to run a search across a particular date range. For example, you may know that a particular subject was discussed at some point in the last few weeks and choose a date range to reflect that.
Alternatively, you can use one of the pre-defined date ranges under “Select a time period”. These are:
If you search by an individual session, the list of MSPs and committees will automatically update to show only the MSPs and committees which were current during that session. For example, if you select Session 1 you will be show a list of MSPs and committees from Session 1.
If you add a custom date range which crosses more than one session of Parliament, the lists of MSPs and committees will update to show the information that was current at that time.

Good morning. Have Covid and the years of home schooling and remote learning had an impact on girls and young women in relation to puberty and body image? If so, what might we do to remedy that? I will put that to Dr Stark first.

My second question, which is for Kirsty Garrett, is about ensuring good representation of women in coaching. I think that Kirsty mentioned coaching in one of her earlier contributions. Do you have any examples of good initiatives to make pathways to coaching more accessible?

Good afternoon. My first question is for Euan Lowe. Emphasising the fun factor of sport is important, but given that women’s professional sport is not taken as seriously as men’s sport, it seems that there is a need to simultaneously work on access to elite sport, where that is desired. How can the two things be balanced and not occur in isolation from each other?

I will roll my questions up together then. Thanks, convener.
I direct my question to Cathie Cowan, whose board covers the Stirling area. Constituents at the end of their tether have contacted me regarding child and adolescent mental health services. I know that things are getting better and that your numbers are getting better, but what have you done to enhance those services, how quickly will we see more progress and, crucially, what is being done to help people in the period in which they cannot be seen—in the 18-week waiting time—when they are in a crisis mental health situation?

Good morning, cabinet secretary and officials. Cabinet secretary, how might the dispensation mechanism operate, and how can it be ensured that it does not act as a deterrent to individuals who might have valid reasons for wanting their name to be withheld from the public register?

What are the implications for charities, with regard to their administrative functions, of the proposals for OSCR to gather and maintain up-to-date information on trustees? I am thinking in particular of smaller charities that may not have paid staff. How might any additional burden be minimised?

That leads me on to my next question. In the evidence session with the Patient Safety Commissioner for England, the committee heard that it is already expanding its office and bidding for more resource, although Dr Hughes felt that it was better to start small and to be agile while having a
“plan for future expansion and growth.”—[Official Report, Health, Social Care and Sport Committee, 21 February 2023; c 38.]
Does the minister have a plan for expansion and growth?

Good morning, Jenni and Katie. Thanks for all your hard work so far and for being here today.
I was interested in your comments. Lack of access to well-fitting kit, for example, is more likely to have an impact on people from a less well-off socioeconomic background. How do you feel about a proposal to provide free sports bras, for instance? Might that make a difference?

Good morning. Are you confident that the resources that are proposed will be sufficient for the commissioner to carry out their functions effectively?

Gender inequality and sexist attitudes are entrenched from a young age. We know that. It is important that the onus is not on young women and girls to make changes. Do you have any examples for us of schools that have successfully engaged with young men and boys on these issues?
