Rural Affairs and Islands Committee

Budget scrutiny 2025 to 2026

The Rural Affairs and Islands Committee is doing pre-budget scrutiny in advance of the publication of the Scottish Government’s budget for 2025 to 2026.

The Committee will look at the following things as part of its pre-budget scrutiny:

  • how last year’s budget was used to meet the national outcomes
  • how the cuts to some budget lines in last year’s budget have impacted on service delivery and implementation
  • the Scottish Government’s proposals to transition to new four-tier system of agricultural support following the Agriculture and Rural Communities (Scotland) Act
  • the budget allocations for the Scottish Government’s Marine Directorate fisheries management of operations and science
