1. Decision on taking business in private:

The Committee agreed to take agenda items 3, 4 and 5 in private.

2. National Strategy for Economic Transformation:

The Committee took evidence from—

Gregor Irwin, Director-General Economy, Aidan Grisewood, Director of Jobs and Wellbeing Economy and Colin Cook, Director of Economic Development, Scottish Government.

3. National Strategy for Economic Transformation (In Private):

The Committee considered the evidence heard at agenda item 2 and took further evidence from—

Stephen Boyle, Auditor General for Scotland;

Cornilius Chikwama, Audit Director, Catherine Young, Senior Manager and Kirsty Ridd, Audit Manager, Audit Scotland.

4. National Strategy for Economic Transformation (In Private):

The Committee considered the evidence heard at agenda items 2 and 3 and agreed to await follow-up written information from the Scottish Government before considering its next steps.

5. Work programme (In Private):

The Committee noted correspondence received from the Minister for Social Care, Mental Wellbeing and Sport and Voluntary Health Scotland in relation to its report, Adult mental health and agreed to make a request to the Parliamentary Bureau to hold a Parliamentary debate on the report.

The Committee noted correspondence from the Auditor General for Scotland and agreed to close its scrutiny of the 2021/22 audit of Scottish Canals.

The Committee considered correspondence received in relation to its scrutiny of the Water Industry Commission for Scotland and agreed to write to the Water Industry Commission for Scotland and the Scottish Government.

The Committee agreed to meet in private on 23 May 2024.
