1. Decision on taking business in private:

The Committee agreed to take items 4, 5, 6 and 7 in private.


2. Inquiry into the role of local government and its cross-sectoral partners in financing and delivering a net-zero Scotland:

The Committee took evidence from—

Gordon Nelson, Scotland Director, Federation of Master Builders;

Ian Hill, Industry Insight Manager and Ian Hughes, Engagement Director, Scotland, Construction Industry Training Board (CITB);

Grant Tierney, LABSS Chair, Local Authority Building Standards Scotland (LABSS);

Martyn Raine, Technical and Skills Manager, Scottish and Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers’ Federation (SNIPEF).


3. P&O Ferries:

The Committee took evidence from—

Peter Hebblethwaite, Chief Executive Officer, P&O Ferries.


4. Inquiry into the role of local government and its cross-sectoral partners in financing and delivering a net-zero Scotland (in private):

The Committee considered the evidence it heard earlier under agenda item 2.


5. P&O Ferries (in private):

The Committee considered the evidence it heard earlier under agenda item 3.

The Committee agreed to write about the evidence session to the Scottish Government, the UK Government, and the Chairs of the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Select Committee and the Transport Select Committee of the House of Commons.


6. Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (in private):

The Committee continued its consideration of draft letters on carbon capture, utilisation and storage to the Scottish and UK governments.

Various changes were agreed to, and the letters were agreed for issuing.


7. Work programme (in private):

The Committee agreed a remit and witnesses for an inquiry into energy price rises.

The Committee agreed proposed visits in connection with its inquiry into the role of local government and its cross-sectoral partners in financing and delivering a net-zero Scotland.


8. Declaration of interests:

This item was taken at the beginning of the meeting.

The Deputy Convener welcomed Brian Whittle to the Committee and invited him to declare any relevant interests.

Brian Whittle said he had no relevant interests to declare.
